Spiritual insight
All in a short time; Saul went from being the king of Israel to being rejected as the king. He chose to be disobedient to God and for that, God said this. 1 Samuel 15:11 I regret that I mad Saul king, for he has turned away from following Me and has not carried out My instructions. When Saul herd this from God's man, Samuel, Saul immediately started to back pedal, bringing God offerings for his mistakes. But in rebuttal, Samuel said this: Does the Lord take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as mus as in obeying the LORD? Look to obey is better than sacrifice, to pay attention is better than the fat of rams. One has to ask, what happened? Answer is simple. Saul chose to obey the advice of the people around him rather than follow the will of God. Sounds just most of us doesn't it?
Application to my life
Today, as God speaks to me and I meditate upon His Word, I want to be His obedient servant. I want to honor God in every situation, circumstance and claim the words of David when he said, I will observe your instructions with my whole heart.
